A life shaped by grace, Scripture, and the local church.

Spencer was born and raised in the small town of Tulare, California. Growing up, he enjoyed playing both soccer and football. At the age of 19, he joined the United States Military, where he served for 6.5 years. During his service, he was stationed in Montana for 4 years before receiving orders to Oklahoma, where he finished the final 2 years of his military service and now resides.

Spencer is married to his wife, Felicity. They have four children and are grateful to serve Christ together through the ordinary life of their local church. Family life is one of God's greatest gifts to them.

From November 2019 to May 2026, Spencer served in the United States Air Force as a Security Forces member and Staff Sergeant. His work included law enforcement, security, force protection, and the leadership and training of other Airmen.

He now serves at Sunnylane Baptist Church in Oklahoma. He teaches Sunday School, preaches on Wednesday evenings, leads Equip Groups, and receives regular mentorship from his pastors as he prepares for pastoral ministry.

My desire for ministry began during my time in the military. A demanding schedule often kept me from regular Sunday attendance, but the Lord used faithful preaching and personal study to deepen my love for Scripture. When I returned to the regular life of the church, that desire grew into a conviction to preach God's Word and serve His people.

My pastors, mentors, and church family have helped confirm that direction. Sunnylane gave me the opportunity to preach my first sermon from 2 Chronicles 20. Since then, my pastors have continued to disciple me, evaluate my preaching, and give me opportunities to teach and serve.

I am now prayerfully seeking an opportunity to serve a local church in pastoral ministry. I want to preach the Word faithfully, care for people, equip believers, and serve with humility under the authority of Scripture.

I preach expositionally, verse by verse. I begin with the biblical text and study its context, meaning, and connection to the rest of Scripture. I then develop the main point and structure the sermon around what the text says.

My preparation usually takes several hours throughout the week. I use the ESV as my primary translation and consult other resources as needed. I typically preach for 35 to 45 minutes. My goal is to explain the Word clearly, point people to Christ, and show how the text should shape their lives.

I want people to leave remembering what God said, not what the preacher said.
